The Orthodox Choir of Detroit gives a masterful performance
DETROIT, MI [COCC] -- The performance of the Orthodox Choir of Detroit on Friday October 6, 2017 was an uplifting experience for all who attended. The concert was held at the St Lazarus Serbian Orthodox Cathedral “Ravanica” in Detroit. The choir is comprised of individuals from Orthodox Churches in the Detroit Metropolitan area.
The Orthodox Choir of Detroit was directed by Vickie Kopistiansky with an energy and precision which enhanced the Orthodox acapella hymns included in the program. The thirty singers sang with a joy that radiated through to the audience. The acoustics and beauty of the cathedral enhanced the music for those attending making it as one audience member said, “a truly spiritual experience.”
Cass Community Social Services was designated by the Council of Orthodox Christian Churches to be the recipient of part of the admission donations made by those attending. A representative from Cass Community Social Services was on hand to discuss the work of the organization.
The Orthodox Choir of Detroit will be performing again at the third annual Detroit Orthodox Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 10 at St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 21931 Evergreen in Southfield. The concert begins at 6:00 p.m. and will include six choirs. All are welcome to attend.
