Kursk Root Icon to visit All Saints Church & SE Michigan

GIBRALTAR, MI - With the blessing of Bishop Peter, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God will visit All Saints Mission Parish here on Saturday, March 15, as we have a wonderful opportunity to share it with our wonderful Orthodox neighbors in the Dearborn/Downriver Area.

The icon will be present that day at Holy Ascension Serbian Orthodox Church on for a service at 3pm.

This is a very significant event and extreme honor in the life of our newly formed parish.  Not many Orthodox communities have had an opportunity to host the Kursk icon.  God-willing, we are inviting you and your friends and family, as we wish many people will come to venerate the icon and bring their cares, troubles, and even thanks to the Mother of God. We know from the Church’s tradition that she is the greatest intercessor before her Son on our behalf and thus there is great veneration for her among the Christian people.

The icon's first parish visitation in the area this week will be to Dormition Cathedral in Ferndale on Thursday, March 13 at 6pm.

Please join us and spread the word to friends and loved ones! We ask that everyone make a special effort to visit either church.  This is truly a significant opportunity we have as Orthodox Christians to experience the miracles!

SPECIAL NOTE:

DEXTER, MI - With the blessing of Bishop Peter, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God will visit St. Vladimir Church here on March 15 and March 16. The icon will be present for Vigil on Saturday, March 15 and for Divine Liturgy on Sunday, March 16. This is a very significant event in the life of the parish. We have never hosted the Kursk icon for a Sunday Divine Liturgy before. God-willing, many people will come to venerate the icon and bring their cares, troubles, and even thanks to the Mother of God. We know from the Church’s tradition that she is the greatest intercessor before her Son on our behalf and thus there is great veneration for her among the Christian people. To learn more about the wonderworking icon that is schedule to visit our parish, please visit the links below. We will need much help from our Brotherhood and Sisterhood during the weekend of the icon’s visit, especially at the Divine Services. Please respond positively to appeals from our Head Brother and Head Sister to help as requested. It is expected that we will hold our monthly building fund meal on March 16 and that Priest Nicholas Olhovsky, the icon’s caretaker, will present the weekly lecture at that meal entitled “The History of the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God”. Please join us! Please spread the word to friends and loved ones. All are welcome! We ask that all car pool to the greatest extent possible for the icon’s visit since our limited parking will be at a premium.
